Myra here.
During my last book hunting expedition post, I shared about our Literary Café session at Zoi Cafe, Al Qattara here in Al Ain as part of our month-long Reading Festival with the theme: Teachers and Leaders as Lifelong Readers. We actually had a part-two of our Literary Café a week ago, and I am happy to receive another poetry book present from one of our featured poets, Miss Danabelle Gutierrez, based here in the UAE. Plus another unexpected birthday present from a poet-colleague who has attended all our literary cafe sessions for the Month of Reading here in the UAE. 🙂
This was truly such an amazing evening with powerful spoken word poets talking about what sustains them as artists despite multiple challenges, the craftsmanship of writing using multiple languages – in addition to surfacing one’s voice, situating one’s truth against a backdrop of uncertainty, and finding sanctuary in verse.
