Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Miz B from Should Be Reading. Here are the rules:
- Grab your current read/s.
- Open to a random page.
- Share “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page (I deleted the ‘two sentences’ bit since I tend to include more than two sentences, truth be told).
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
When I finished Kyung-Sook Shin’s novel Please Look After Mother, I didn’t immediately pick up a book. Life sort of got in the way, but I’m back in business with two books which I’ll be featuring in today’s Teaser Tuesday.
First up is a book I bought because our dear friends in Pansing offered us a copy of the second book to the series. Today’s first teaser is from Holly Black’s White Cat, Book 1 of the Curse Worker Series.
“I’ve dreamed of a white cat. It leaned over me, inhaling sharply, as if it was going to suck the breath from my lungs, but then it bit out my tongue instead. There was no pain, only a sense of overwhelming, suffocating panic. In the dream my tongue was wriggling red thing, mouse-size adn wet, that the cat carried in her mouth. I wanted it back. I sprang up out of the bed and grabbed for her, but she was too lean and too quick. I chased her. The next thing I knew, I was teetering on a slate roof.”
Have you read this book? How did you find it?
The next book is in anticipation of our May/June theme here at GB. I won’t expound on that further as we’re launching early May. The books is a collection of essay by a Filipino Writer (Rica Bolipata-Santos) called Lost and Found.
” Every day I wake up it has become harder to deal with difficult people. I’ve been wondering if this inability to deal with difficulty is a function of age. The older I get, the more unbearable the battles seems and the more I dread going out of the house! These are the days I want to stay in and just read and have coffee and be left alone in my world. But the needs of daily life impinge upon me, knock on my door, and won’t be left unnoticed.”
Before going, I’d like to invite everyone to the challenge we’re hosting this year, the Award Winning Books Reading Challenge. Do sign up here if you haven’t joined us yet!
I have not heard of either book! The first one sounds pretty interesting.

I’m glad you could relate to one. It is a collection of personal essays. I think the book is a compilation of her local newspaper column.

Guy on the cover does not seem thrilled with his white cat. Does he want to exchange it?
