Myra here.
Thank you to Christie at Wondering and Wandering for hosting this week.
I have been seeing this collection of poetry by Lucille Clifton shared by poet friends on social media. So while I was in the United States, I made sure to purchase my own copy of the book.
(Amazon | Book Depository)
I have been dipping in and out of this collection for awhile now, and this is one of the poems that called out to me, as it seems fitting for our current reading theme on survival and reinventing one’s self.
It gives me hope, Myra, for those ‘new bones’ soon! Thanks for finding and sharing this lovely poem.

This is a good reminder to start reading the copy of this book that I checked out from the library! Thank you for sharing this poem; it so makes me want to read more of Clifton’s work.

Wow—that’s a really powerful poem! It’s always astounding how something so short can evoke so many different feelings. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Myra, you chose the just right book for this week’s PF. “we will wear new bones again” sounds like a strike line for a golden shovel. Thanks. I may play around with that.

Love the concept of having “new bones.” Much to ponder there. Also love the hopeful thinking forwardness of this poem. Brilliance from Ms. Clifton. Many thanks for joining us this week, Myra, and I do hope you find some badminton courts soon. Such a fun sport!
