Myra here.

If things go as they should, we would have been in the United Arab Emirates by now, ready to begin our new life adventure. Some of the books I am sharing here are borrowed from the Singapore libraries, a few weeks ago. One of my first tasks now that we have moved is to find the local libraries here in Al Ain. At any rate, here are some of the books that managed to find us over the past weeks or so.

Library Haul from Singapore

Sewing Stories: Harriet Powers’ Journey From Slave To Artist by Barbara Herkert and Vanessa Brantley-Newton, P. L. Travers’ Mary Poppins adapted by Amy Novesky and illustrated by Genevieve Godbout.

Mister And Lady Day: Billie Holiday And The Dog Who Loved Her by Amy Novesky and illustrated by Vanessa Brantley Newton, Spring After Spring: How Rachel Carson Inspired The Environmental Movement by Stephanie Roth Sisson.

Upgrade Soul by Ezra Claytan Daniels, The Odyssey by Rosemary Sutcliff and Alan Lee.

The Golden Mare, The Firebird, And The Magic Ring by Ruth Sanderson; Cinderella Stories Around The World by Cari Meister.

Book Haul from Book Depository: #WomenReadWomen2019

A Room Of One’s Own | Three Guineas by Virginia Woolf, Poso Wells by Gabriela Aleman, Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi.

Book Haul from Book Depository: Required Literature Texts

Since my daughter would be attending an international school here in Al Ain (Manor Hall International School), here are the books that are included in her Summer Reading List. Naturally, we had to purchase them.

Death Of A Salesman by Arthur Miller, Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, The African Trilogy: Things Fall Apart | No Longer At Ease | Arrow Of God by Chinua Achebe.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang. You gotta love a school that recommends outstanding graphic novels.

How To Read Literature Like A Professor by Thomas C. Foster, Everything’s An Argument by Andrea A. Lunsford and John J. Ruszkiewicz.

Review Copies from Pansing

Daisy Jones And The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Girl In The Tower by Katherine Arden, The Bear And The Nightingale by Katherine Arden.

How about you? What are the books that found their way into your hands recently?
