
I just met up with my GatheringReaders babies barely ten hours after my plane landed in Singapore from Manila last Sunday, 28 July 2013 at the Jurong West Public Library. It really helps that I love doing this. Meeting with avid young readers always invigorates and inspires me.
Our July meeting is always dedicated for some Booktalking as we discuss the books that we will be reading for the rest of the year. I email my participants a few weeks ahead of time to let them know what the genre/theme would be each month and they are encouraged to give suggestions/recommendations during our session. I also prepare book trailers for possible book titles for the kids to choose from.
August: Books Published in 2012/2013
The book choices are: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool and Doll Bones by Holly Black. And this is the children’s choice:

October: Meet an Author
This October, we are very privileged to invite the husband-and-wife tandem who use the pseudonym AJ Low for their bestselling series Sherlock Sam in GatheringReaders. The book club participants would be reading Sherlock Sam and the Missing Heirloom in Katong so they could ask thoughtful questions when they meet the authors.
