I have fallen in love with Mary Oliver’s poetry and I blame our Poetry Friday friend, Jama Rattigan for this. Poetry Friday is hosted this week by the amazingly beautiful Robyn Hood Black of Read, Write, Howl.
Since we have just recently launched our new bimonthly theme until end of December called “Stream of Stories and Whispering Water Tales” I deliberately searched for Mary Oliver poems that would fit our water theme and I found Blackwater Pond. Just beautiful. I took a screenshot of the poem from my camera phone and used an iPhone app to superimpose the words to this lovely image. Hope you like it.
I have A Thousand Mornings on order!

Oh, love the presentation of the poem, Myra! Have to learn how to do that too (just got an iPhone). Such a beautiful poem. “cupped hands” — the poem I’m featuring by Penny Harter has cupped hands too.
It’s good to be “blamed” for Mary Oliver. Reading her latest book now :).

Beautiful! I love it that it’s about drinking water — how mundane, and yet how wonderful!

Beautiful that you put it all together this way, Myra. Before we moved to Colorado, we lived on a lake in Missouri-a magical time then, too! I love this image of water as rejuvenation-here the drinking, but just the sound of water lapping is marvelous for the soul. Thank you!
