Hunger Games in Singapore!

Yes, you heard right! I received an email a week ago about this wonderful event organized by our libraries here in Singapore, and I thought that it would be a great time to share this with you. Check out this poster.

There will be short-story writing competitions and drawing contests based on the Hunger Games series all the way from 14 May to 9 June. In the email that I received, it was noted that:

The short story writing is open to all ages, 500-2000 words and participants have to write the life in capitol. The drawing contest have two categories below 16 years old and above 16 years old and participants are required to draw a tribute costume.

If you wish to register, click here to be taken to their Facebook Page. Interested participants could also register via the NLB ekiosks. Sounds like a whole lot of fun! Too bad I’d miss this event since I will be in the States with family during this time. I have a feeling though that it’s going to be very successful. To all those who are thinking of joining, May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.

Myra is a Teacher Educator and a registered clinical psychologist based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Prior to moving to the Middle East, she lived for eleven years in Singapore serving as a teacher educator. She has edited five books on rediscovering children’s literature in Asia (with a focus on the Philippines, Malaysia, India, China, Japan) as part of the proceedings for the Asian Festival of Children’s Content where she served as the Chair of the Programme Committee for the Asian Children’s Writers and Illustrators Conference from 2011 until 2019. While she is an academic by day, she is a closet poet and a book hunter at heart. When she is not reading or writing about books or planning her next reads, she is hoping desperately to smash that shuttlecock to smithereens because Badminton Is Life (still looking for badminton courts here at UAE - suggestions are most welcome).
