It’s hard to choose, isn’t it? The copy I bought is from Barnes & Noble but I forgot if it’s their exclusive edition. I hope we both get to read it soon! I’m still working on books I borrowed from the library that are due to be returned. Ha!

Sad that there is little/no diversity. Have you tried reading/purchasing books from outside of the United States? There’s an abundance of great stuff from Australia and beyond.

Mr Nguyen, is this your first time visiting GatheringBooks? If anything, we embrace diversity and are all for reading books by authors around the world.

I was born and raised in the Philippines so, yes, I have read books from outside of the United States. I brought some books written by Filipino authors and published in my home country when I moved to the U.S. 11 years ago. I am very fortunate to be working in a library that circulates books by Australian writers such as Markus Zusak, Garth Nix, and Marcelina Marchetta, to name a few. We also have books by Tove Jansson (Finland), Fredrik Backman (Sweden), Cornelia Funke (Germany), Haruki Murakami (Japan), and F.H. Batacan (Philippines), among others. Our partner library in Cleveland circulates books from around the world in their original language.

Recently, I gifted a friend a copy of Glenn Ringtved’s award-winning book “Cry Heart, But Never Break,” which was first published in Denmark seven years ago. The titles featured in my post make up a small portion of my personal library. As far as purchasing outside the United States, I get my book haul online, since I cannot afford to travel outside the U.S. at this time. I love to discover and read books by writers from different parts of the world. I just wish I have all the time in the world to just read, read, and read.

Do you have favorite authors that you would recommend? We at GatheringBooks would love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to explore our blog and discover new books to read!
