Myra here.
It is that time of the week again where we share a book quote that seemed particularly striking for us.
For the month of MAY, our book quote theme is: JUSTICE.
The Philippine election is happening this month (yes, I am a registered voter), and so I thought of devoting the entire month to JUSTICE, especially since fabrications, deceptions, manufactured versions of alternate realities are being peddled as so-called ‘truths.’
As I am drafting this post, I am still reading Svetlana Aleksievich’s Voices From Chernobyl: The Oral History Of A Nuclear Disaster (Amazon | Book Depository). It hurts my heart to read it and I have refrained from reading it at night, because it is hardly what you would call a comforting bedtime read, but definitely a necessary one. Hence, it is slightly slow-going for me, but it’s not the kind of book one would breeze through. I also made sure to purchase practically all of Aleksievich’s books that are available here in the UAE, because that is how good she is.
