My Year in Books (2019)

A few fun facts about my Goodreads 2019 Reading Challenge and a simple round-up of my #WomenReadWomen2019.

Fats here.

I started 2019 with The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I hoped that a really good book like that would encourage me to read more. I was doing fine until I was promoted to Assistant Circulation Manager, which happened in mid-February. In July, I was accepted into Leadership Wooster, a 10-month leadership training headed by the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce. Last November, I joined the Fantasy Fiction Fanatics Book Club in our library. All of these on top of Game Night with friends every third Saturday of the month. So, yeah, I was not exactly motivated to read.

Today’s post will focus on my 2019 Reading Challenge on Goodreads and a round-up of my #WomenReadWomen2019. I’m happy to say that I reached and surpassed my goal of 86 books this year. I gave up logging my books after August, so the total count of 125 is actually way off. I also managed to reach my goal of 26 women writers across 10 countries in the world. In fact, I was able to read works of more than 50 female authors in 15 countries. So hooray for that! How did your year in reading go?

Fats is the Assistant Manager for Circulation Services at the Wayne County Public Library in Wooster, Ohio. She considers herself a reader of all sorts, although she needs to work on her non-fiction reading. Fats likes a good mystery but is not too fond of thrillers. She takes book hoarding seriously and enjoys collecting bookmarks and tote bags. When she is not reading, Fats likes to shop pet apparel for her cat Penny (who absolutely loathes it).

  1. Congrats on reaching your goal! I hate when life interferes with reading. It’s so rude.
