We would also be linking our nonfiction choices with our reading themes throughout the year, when we can. While today’s post does not coincide with our current theme, both books featured today are written by women authors. Below you’ll find two nature-related juvenile nonfiction books that I’ve seen from the library several months ago.

In Mama Built a Little Nest, Jennifer Ward combines poetry with facts pertaining to birds’ nest-building. Each spread features a different bird species and a short description on how these birds build their nest. Sometimes it’s the mama builds it, and sometimes it’s the papa that does. The book also mentioned that not all birds build nests. Some birds find a nest built by another bird species and leave their eggs in it and fly off! Isn’t that something?
