[Poetry Friday] “Secret Language” by Nikita Gill

Birthday Poem #4: Secret Language by Nikita Gill.

Fats here.

It’s the last Friday of June—hooray! To complete the four-part Wild Embers special for our Poetry Friday offerings this month, I am sharing a poem from Nikita Gill’s anthology that fits perfectly with our theme on Sisterhood and Female Bonds.

We are grateful for Buffy for hosting the Poetry Friday round-up!

Before I left for Boston earlier this month, I came across a post by A Fox on the Run Vintage on Facebook. It was in comic form and relays the same message as Nikita Gill’s poem. It reads from left to right, and top to bottom.

Here’s to the Sisterhood! This poem and comic both really resonated with me. Thank you, and text me when you get home! 🙂

  2. Yay for sisterhood and looking-out for one another. I hate the reality of the comic–makes me wonder about the progress we think we’ve made–but love the empowering ending of both.

I am so grateful for those sisters who look out for each other and for me, too.
