Myra here.
Every Tuesday, we share photographs from our recent or long-ago travels, or just everyday stuff that appealed to our mindful eye and sharp sensibilities as captured through fleeting images.
Basilica St. Emmeram (Regensburg)
This was one of our main stops when I did a one-day tour in Regensburg. Founded in about 739, this basilica or abbey has definitely withstood the test of time.
“It seemed she was in a cathedral—if, that is, the earth itself were to dream a cathedral into being over thousands of years of water weeping through stone.”
― Daughter of Smoke & Bone
“What did you say, Gram? About there being no church out here?” “I said that the sky was the roof of my cathedral and the desert was its floor and any time I paid attention, I could feel a higher power all around me.”
― Blue Wings
“I never weary of great churches. It is my favorite kind of mountain scenery. Mankind was never so happily inspired as when it made a cathedral.”

“We went out into the street again and took a look at the cathedral. Cohn made from remark about it being a very good example of something or other, I forget what. It seemed like a nice cathedral.”
― The Sun Also Rises
“Yet the bells, when they sounded told me sorrowfully of change in everything; told me of their own age, and my pretty Dora’s youth; and of the many, never old, who had lived and loved and died, while the reverberations of the bells had hummed through the rusty armour of the Black Prince hanging up within, and, motes upon the deep of Time, had lost themselves in air, as circles do in water.”
― David Copperfield
“Love is like a tree: it grows by itself, roots itself deeply in our being and continues to flourish over a heart in ruin. The inexplicable fact is that the blinder it is, the more tenacious it is. It is never stronger than when it is completely unreasonable.”
― The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
“The whole value of solitude depends upon oneself; it may be a sanctuary or a prison, a haven of repose or a place of punishment, a heaven or a hell, as we ourselves make it.”
― Peace and Happiness
“Music I discovered that night, was a sanctuary, a safe place to hide, a place where scars didn’t matter, they didn’t exist.”
― The Scar Boys
