Myra here.
this particular book haul is quite diverse, as it features library finds connected to our current reading theme, as well as a few titles selected by a few of my online reading communities for book club discussions. I was in luck as most of my book club picks fit our current reading theme, and I did find a few interesting library titles, thanks to the double up your reading loan.
Library Finds
How To Code A Sandcastle by Josh Funk and Illustrated by Sara Palacios, A House That Once Was by Julie Fogliano and Lane Smith.
Haunted! Edinburgh Castle by Ryan Nagelhout, Handbook To Ghosts, Poltergeists, and Haunted Houses by Sean McCollum.
Creepy Chronicles: Witches, Wizards, And Dark Magic by Barbara Cox and Scott Forbes, The Salem Witch Trials by Kristin Marciniak.
Perfectly Norman by Tom Percival.
The Wizard’s Book Of Spells by Beatrice Phillpotts and Illustrated by Robert Ingpen.
Online Book Club Picks
Since I joined several online reading communities in Litsy, there are quite a few novels I borrowed over the past few weeks that I managed to finish reading. It looks like 2018 is an adult fiction year for me: The Broken Girls by Simone St James, The Mars Room by Rachel Kushner, Circe by Madeline Miller.
Book Buys
The Overstory by Richard Powers, Austerlitz by W. G. Sebald – both these books are for another one of my reading communities, this one on Facebook. Yes, I do have too many book clubs, I agree.
Library Looking Glass: A Personal Anthology by David Cecil. I learned about this book after reading Susan Hill’s Howards End Is On The Landing (which I reviewed here).
Any title here that caught your eye? Any recommendations for our current reading theme?
