Myra here.
Every Sunday, we share the books that found their way into our shelves either from the library or our recent travels and book hunting expeditions. This week, I am glad to finally be sharing my post-Valentine book loot with you all!
#CupidGoesPostal #ValentinesBookExchange
This is the second time that I joined the Litsy Book Exchange. We need to send our package before Valentine’s Day and we are to simultaneously open our loot on V-Day itself. Here’s mine!
My books came with the most stylish dark chocolate ever and wondrous coffee beans (I had to borrow my next-door neighbour’s grinder, but it was sooo worth it, delicious coffee ever). My books are: White Teeth by Zadie Smith, The Tiger’s Wife by Tia Obreht, Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.
Valentine Book Loot
It has been a tradition for my husband to give me books and flowers for Valentine’s Day.
They are not all for me. Some are for my 16 year old girl, for who I also included a derma roller. Here’s mine:
Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion, Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman.
The Familiar Volume 5: Redwood by Mark Z. Danielewski.
It looks like it is going to be a year of political drama for me indeed. Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House by Michael Wolff, What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Daughter’s Valentine Book Loot
The Shape Of Water by Guillermo Del Toro, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters by Emil Ferris, Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman.
Little Gestalten Books
Occasionally, I receive review copies from Little Gestalten, one of our favourite children’s book publishers – they make the most awesome titles. You have got to to find these books and add them to your library soonest!
I Am Life by Helland Larsen and Illustrated by Marine Schneider, Space Kids: An Introduction For Young Explorers by Andrea De Santis and Steve Parker, The Mystery Of The Golden Wonderflower by Benjamin Flouw, The Big Book Of Treasures: The Most Amazing Discoveries Ever Made And Still To Be Made by Raphael Honigstein and Caroline Attia, What Do Grow-Ups Do All Day? Illustrated by Dawid Ryski.
Book Depository Purchase
I also bought these two amazing picturebooks from Book Depository. We are indeed proud affiliates, and I am so glad that we are, because most of my book purchases come from here.
The Middle Passage by Tom Feelings.
Love by Matt De La Peña and Illustrated by Loren Long.
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin – this is the February title for the #BowieBookClub.
Book Presents
Dear Dragon by Josh Funk and Illustrated by Rodolfo Montalvo: I won this book as a prize when I left a comment on Tammy and Clare’s Teachers for Teachers blog.
My daughter was one of the winners for a Poetry Contest that their Literature teacher hosted a year ago, and this was her prize: Ten Short Stories by Roald Dahl.
I also just recently received this from Canvas Books. It looks amazing – The Weight Of Words: An Alphabet Of Human Rights.
How about you? What are some of the books that found their way into your shelves over the past weeks?
