[BHE 292] Big Bad Wolf Book Fair in Malaysia (Part 1 of 2)

BBW Book Fair Malaysia

Myra here.

Every Sunday, we make it a point to share our (fairly) recent book acquisitions and our book hunting expeditions. We feature books that managed to find their way into our hands and our shelves either through covert or legitimate means (hehe). This week is extra special because apart from being Christmas Eve (which means our home will be filled with books because as people from Iceland claim it’s Jolabokaflod period), I am also sharing my book loot from the recent Big Bad Wolf Book Fair which happens once a year in Malaysia.

Big Bad Wolf Book Fair in Malaysia 2017

My family and I made a long weekend of it – leaving early Friday morning by bus and coming back home Sunday morning, arriving here in Singapore with my new babies in the evening. Most of the books are worth 10 Malaysian Ringgit (roughly S$3). Some of the graphic novels I got are a tad more expensive, particularly the boxed sets of Stephen King (roughly S$70 – its original price though, if you can find it at all, is over 200 dollars), but since they are unavailable in Book Depository or anywhere else that I know of, they remain a bargain.

And so, on to my loot!

Notebooks

I thought I better begin with the notebooks and the colouring books. I am a huge sucker for notebooks, and so when I found these, especially the Shaun Tan notebooks (which I bought for 10-15 dollars a piece when I was overseas, and which was being sold for 3 dollars in this fair), I nearly shrieked out loud.

Graphic Novels, Illustrated Books, Picturebooks

So these babies are huge and extremely heavy, and the most expensive of all my loot. But boy, I am sure to kick myself in the head if I didn’t purchase them. I know that they are rare editions, and they are so gloriously beautiful: The Dark Tower 2-Book Omnibus by Stephen King, Robin Furth, Peter David, Jae Lee and Richard Isanove.

The Stand 2-Book Omnibus by Stephen King, Aguirre-Sacasa, Perkins and Martin.

And here are some snapshots from the inside of The Stand:

  1. Cute pics as always! I hadn’t heard of Angry Little Girls before, so I looked it up and just added it to my TBR. Thank you!
