[Poetry Friday] The Poetic Genius That is Dean Rader: Poems from “Self-Portrait as Wikipedia Entry”

poetry friday

Fats here.

Yesterday, I picked up four new poetry books from our shelves. I browsed each book last night before I went to bed, and I was struck by the last one. I love the title and cover of Dean Rader’s Self-Portrait as Wikipedia Entry. This is his second full-length poetry collection. I am happy to share two of his poems from this collection.

Poetry Friday round-up
is hosted today by Donna at Mainely Write.

Below is an excerpt
(or what constitutes 3/4 of the poem).

The poem below appeared in The San Francisco Chronicle after the November 2016 elections.

  1. I have to say I really liked the first poem – something about the asides and changes that were like my random thinking and speaking sometimes when I just want to try out sounds or when I’m trying to get at what I really want to say. Thanks for sharing these!

  2. Thank you for sharing the poems. I find them very interesting pieces, both different and engaging.
