[Saturday Reads] Launch Of New Website on Themed Stories From Asia – Part One of Four: Splash! Asia

SaturdayReads

Myra here.

Every Saturday we hope to share with you our thoughts on reading and books. We thought that it would be good practice to reflect on our reading lives and our thoughts about reading in general. While on occasion, we would feature a few books in keeping with this, there would be a few posts where we will just write about our thoughts on read-alouds, libraries, reading journals, upcoming literary conferences, books that we are excited about, and just book love miscellany in general.

Themed PictureBooks From Asia: Splash! Asia

I am very privileged to be part of a team that has been publishing annotated bibliographies of themed stories from Asia since 2013 in coordination with the National Book Development Council of Singapore. This photo was taken in 2013 with some of the authors featured in this bibliography and the team that worked together to gather titles for this collection. Here is a link to our launch back in 2013.

This year, we are launching our website at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content that would showcase our published themed bibliographies.

We invite you to discover hidden treasures through this new website. And so, leading up to the event, I would be highlighting our four themed booklets, beginning with Splash! Asia whose full PDF you can download here.

As noted here, we have six broad themes in this wonderful collection. Click on each image to be taken to the collection of stories for each theme:

If you have discovered new treasures from this collection, please do let us know, so that we can feature your story in this new website. Or if you have water-themed titles from Asia (or with universal themes) you’d like to recommend, please click here to let us know.
