I don’t remember how I learned about this book. It found its way to me, somehow, and I’m glad. I love the cover layout and I think that this is a really neat book for kids. Lisa Campbell Ernst will change the way children look at ordinary things they encounter every day, particularly in their own yard.
From dirt to rocks and acorns to nests, this simple yet handy non-fiction picture book serves as a field guide for children by helping them understand how certain things work. Some of the things mentioned in the book (like wagons and wheels) include an actual explanation on how they work, while others (such as clouds and animals) are given a detailed description instead. The book is very informative, has fun illustrations, and is a great tool for the young, inquisitive mind.
