Book Hunting Expeditions

[BHE 165] Book Loot from Manila!

Myra here.

Every Sunday, we share books that have hunted us down and found their way into our bookshelves.

My family and I had a very short trip to the Philippines just a few weeks ago, and most naturally I got myself quite a number of books!

Book Buys from Manila: Local Lit!

These three books are for two of my friends here in Singapore as they specifically requested for these: Mythspace Volume 1, Trese 6: High Tide at Midnight and Trese: Stories from the Diabolical by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo.

These TRESE books are mine. 🙂

Ma Me Mi Mumu! by Jomike Tejido.

Muling Magbabalik and PeryaMga Monumento ni Eman both by Eugene Evasco and illustrated by Jonathan Rañola.

Sa Tapat ng Tindahan ni Mang Teban by Joachim Emilio Antonio and illustrated by Jomike Tejido, Ang Ambisyosong Istetoskop by Luis Gatmaitan and illustrated by Beth Parrocha Doctolero.

Mga Tagpong Mukhang Ewan at Kung Anu-ano pang Kababalaghan! by Manix Abrera, Maktan 1521 by Tepai Pascual.

Tatlong Gabi Tatlong Araw by Eros Atalia, and Segundo Matias Jr’s Moymoy Lulumboy: Ang Batang Aswang.

Charlie Sparks: A Sorcerer’s Tale by C. N. Tan.

Book Presents

Ahon: A Primer On Cimate Resilience – a gift given to me by Noel Cabangon who was asked to contribute to this primer.

Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa as told to my cousin, award-winning TV director and film writer Bibeth Orteza Siguon-Reyna.

Titles from Books for Less and FullyBooked Manila

I got The Big Pets by Lane Smith at a hugely discounted rate: roughly 1.50 sgd.

Brand new titles from Fully Booked, simply because I couldn’t wait any longer: Bone Gap by Laura Ruby, Circus Mirandus by Cassie Beasley.

Notebooks! and a Painting

Gorgeous blank notebooks from one of my soul sisters.

The same soulsister gave me this painting that she made for me. Beautiful isn’t it? I am fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family who have an artist’s soul. Thanks Niña!

Loved loved loved these promotional notebooks of Segundo Matias’ Moymoy Lulumboy.

Book Present from Pansing Books!

Since I loved The Sky is Everywhere so much, I requested this title from Pansing: I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson.

How about you, fellow bibliophiles? Any new books from your recent travels?
