Christmas Cheer and Storytelling

Myra here.

In behalf of the GatheringBooks ladies, let me all greet you a Blessed and Bookish Christmas!

This year was a little special for us. My daughter celebrated her birthday on the 21st of December, and we are glad that we have been invited as a family to be part of the Children’s Christmas Workshop in our Parish Church at St. Francis of Assisi here in Singapore on the exact same date.

While we have only arrived in Singapore during the wee hours of the morning on the 19th, I knew that this was something that we could not possibly pass up. I was invited to do a Storytelling with over twenty children aged 5 to 11 years old and the theme revolved around the Nativity, while my husband was asked to be the official photographer of the event. And so my daughter and I read aloud Eve Bunting’s “We Were There: A Nativity Story” with paintings by Wendell Minor and Lauren Thompson’s “One Starry Night” illustrated by Jonathan Bean. Both books I reviewed here.

What a blessing to be able to do something truly meaningful as a family during my daughter’s 13th birthday and to celebrate Christmas with the people from our community.

How about you, dear friends, what are your favourite Christmas stories? We’d love to hear them.
