I am excited to share our first poem this week with my absolute favourite: T. S. Eliot and “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.” I would not even presume to know what this poem means but that’s part of its appeal, I suppose. Plus the glimpses of truth that whisper to my ear, such as the oft-quoted “I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.” And this:
Do I dare
disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.
I took a photo of certain verses from the poem that moved me deeply and edited it with a handy app. I am also very glad to find a reading by T. S. Eliot himself of this timeless poem.
