Myra here.
It’s been awhile since I posted for our Book Hunting Expeditions. Every Sunday, we share the books that found their way into our bookshelves. This week, I am sharing my book loot a few weeks back for Christmas. Or to be precise, mine and my daughter’s. 🙂
12 Year Old Daughter’s Book Loot
Oh yes, it’s been a bookish Christmas for her, no doubt about that. The holidays are the perfect time to read! She opened a Goodreads account after receiving all these lovelies.
Dork Diaries: OMG All About Me Diary by Rachel Reneé Russell, Big Nate: I Can’t Take it by Lincoln Peirce, I Even Funnier by James Patterson, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney. All part of the many book series that she is collecting. Comes with a free finger!
The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppett by Tom Angleberger is part of the Origami Yoda series which we also own. Drama by Raina Telgemeier seems perfect for her given her love for theatre. True enough, she finished the graphic novel within a few hours.
Since she’s very much into “journals” this particular title caught my eye: The Isobel Journal by Isobel Harrop.
Naturally, Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang.
Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamilo and illustrated by K. G. Campbell.
This takes the cake: her very own Harry Potter series. While I do have a few of the titles in my shelves, there are several that are missing or were left behind back in the Philippines. So I figured, she deserves an entire set of her own. We’re in Book One. Hopefully, we finish the entire series for 2014. Part of my reading list!
My Christmas Book Gifts
My husband got me the Ender’s Game Boxed Set by Orson Scott Card: Ender’s Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind.
Whee! My very own D’Aulaires’ Book of Norse Myths.
Patrick Ness’ More than This. Part of my reading list this 2014.
My Absolute Favourite Gift: J. J. Abrams and Doug Dorst’s S.
Look at the inside pages.
What an astounding publishing feat!
Here’s the book trailer! Enjoy!
Wow-what loot indeed! But that final one, I am totally intrigued, Myra! I hope you enjoy the Ender series. My husband, daughter and I read them together a long while ago, maybe when they came out. I still need to read Drama, loved her first one. My book for Christmas was the latest Dave Eggers-still not read, but someday! Happy Sunday (almost starting for you!)
