Myra here.
It’s Sunday! Time for us to share the books that have found us from out-of-the-way book shops, called to us from library book shelves and navigated their way into our hands and hearts. Here are a few of my book finds from Bras Basah, one of my favourite places here in Singapore.
Book Loot from Bras Basah
Fantasy
I have a growing library of these two authors: Derek Landy’s Skulduggery Pleasant – And He’s The Good Guy and Terry Pratchett’s Wyrd Sisters.
Adult Novels
Amy Tan’s The Bonesetter’s Daughter and Joseph Campbell’s The Masks of God: Primitive Mythology.
Picture Book Finds at 2 for 5 dollars
The Moon Lady by Amy Tan and illustrated by Gretchen Schields and Sinat and the Instrument of the Heart: A Story of Cambodia by Chath pierSath and illustrated by Vann Nath and Phal Pouriseth.
Wolves by Emily Gravett and Different Like Coco by Elizabeth Matthews.
The Joseph Campbell Masks of God is a tremendous work. The introduction and opening chapter is one of the finest summations of developmental psychology I’ve read. Campbell was a great thinker and writer. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
