Myra here.

We are very honoured and extremely excited to announce our featured guests this September and October in GatheringBooks. Since our bimonthly theme is on Monsters, Beasts, and Chimera: Of Spooks and Spectres, we thought it best to invite the demon-hunting team, the slayers of monsters and supernatural creatures – who else but the unparalleled Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo of Trese Fame.

Meet the Storyteller: Budjette Tan

I met Budjette during the Little Lit Festival in Manila last May 2013. I moderated their panel on Situating Southeast Asian Traditions in Picture Books and Graphic Novels. So I am aware of how dynamic a speaker he is. We are truly very happy that Budjette is one of our featured stellar guests in GatheringBooks.

We are also very excited to welcome Erik Weibel of This Kid Reviews Books as our guest blogger. He would be talking about his recently-published book The Adventures of Tomato and Pea, Book 1: A Bad Idea as well as some of his favourite spooks and spectres tales.

Congratulations, Erik on your book!

What about you, dear friends, what’s going on in your blog in the next two months?

Myra is a Teacher Educator and a registered clinical psychologist based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Prior to moving to the Middle East, she lived for eleven years in Singapore serving as a teacher educator. She has edited five books on rediscovering children’s literature in Asia (with a focus on the Philippines, Malaysia, India, China, Japan) as part of the proceedings for the Asian Festival of Children’s Content where she served as the Chair of the Programme Committee for the Asian Children’s Writers and Illustrators Conference from 2011 until 2019. While she is an academic by day, she is a closet poet and a book hunter at heart. When she is not reading or writing about books or planning her next reads, she is hoping desperately to smash that shuttlecock to smithereens because Badminton Is Life (still looking for badminton courts here at UAE - suggestions are most welcome).
