BHE (39): Library and Cybils Love and Happy Lunar New Year

Before I share my book loot for the week, let me greet everyone a Happy Lunar New Year!

May the Year of the Water Snake bring you lots and lots of luck, dear friends!

It’s my turn to share a few of the books that have come into my hands these past weeks – here are some that I discovered from my weekly visit to the libraries and most are in keeping with our current bimonthly theme: Crazy Over Cybils.

Library Loot: Cybils Love

Since we are still in the thick of celebrating all things-Cybils-related, I borrowed a few more fiction picture book nominees for 2012: Chloe, Instead by Micah Player and Chloe by Peter McCarty – I thought this would be a nice 2-in-1 post.

While not Cybils-nominees, I could sense another possible 2-in-1 special as I get to know more of Peter McCarty’s amazing work and signature artistry: The Monster Returns and Henry in Love.

French Ducks in Venice by Garret Freymann-Weyr and illustrated by Erin McGuire has likewise been nominated for Fiction Picture Book this 2012. Here comes the Bride by Beatrice Masini and illustrated by Anna Laura Cantone looks like a fun book that is perfect for love month – and an award-winning-book to boot!

Graphic Novel Love

Friends with Boys by Faith Erin Hicks is a Graphic Novel-YA Finalist for 2012. My 11 year old daughter finished this in one afternoon. Copper by Kazu Kibuishi is also her pick.

How about you, dear friends, what books found their way into your hands this week?
