A-Z Book Challenge AWB (Award-Winning-Books) 2013 GB Challenges Read-a-Latte

Reading Challenges in 2013: A-Z Book Challenge, Book Bingo and Read-a-Latte

What better way to start the New Year than to join as many reading challenges that appeal to us. We thought that it would be cool to join new ones that we have not tried in the last two years, and thanks to Natalie from Fill Your Bookshelf, I discovered quite a few that I did not even know about.

The A-Z Book Challenge

This reading challenge is hosted by Babies, Books, and Beyond. We thought that this would be a great alternative to the Picture Book Challenge which we have been joining for the past two years. We would most likely be reading a lot of picture books for this one, and going about it the B way (otherwise known as the lazy way). The objective is for us to read and review at least one book for each letter of the alphabet. I think I already have a Z-title, whee! We would just do a monthly update to keep track of the letters that we have not given as much love compared to others.

Kimberlysbookshelf.com is the host for the 2013 Read-a-Latte Challenge. I love how it manages to combine two of our absolute favorite things, coffee and books. I just know this would appeal to Iphigene who is a self-confessed coffee addict. I am not as hardcore as she is, I must admit. I am also in the process of transitioning to tea, but, well, we see how that goes this year.

We are going for the Double Espresso Level where we would attempt to read 150+ books. I love the fact that this can be across any genre. PLUS, it coincides perfectly with our Annual 365 Reading Challengeour very own personal challenge where we attempt to read 365 books collectively among all three of us (Fats, Iphigene and myself) for the entire year (click here to be taken to the last two months from our 2012 Calendar). Hence, 150+ books should be a breeze.

2013 Book Bingo Reading Challenge

This one appealed to my fun, impulsive, game-y nature. Plus the fact that it also involves reading books that are part of a series – something that we thought we should attend to this 2013. Or so I say.

The goal of course is to have a black out by the end of the year. This one, I have a feeling would prove to be challenging for us. But since there are three of us sharing the challenge, again, this should be manageable. Add the fact that we’ve been meaning to really read our TBR stack from our ever-growing bookshelves. I’d probably re-read a lot of picture books (haha). The Free Square can be crossed off through one of two ways: (1) Reading a book picked by another participant, or (2) Reading a book in a genre picked by another participant. This would give us a chance to know more people and to be part of an even bigger book blogging community.

Thanks for sharing this, it will be on my radar for 2014 🙂 For this year I’ve got a couple of goals set already. But I’m looking forward to being able to do this when the time comes…and I’ll watch out for how you do in them 😉

  3. Thanks for joining Bingo 🙂 You’re welcome to set your goals as high or as low as you want – technically you can “win” with just 5 books! That way you can reset your goals at any time, and everyone can participate at whatever level works. Good luck with all your challenges – it sounds like lots of reading! 😀
