Mo Willems!
I’ve been hearing so much about Mo Willems’ Elephant and Piggie books from the Monday Meme participants, and naturally I got intrigued. When Fats’ wrote her review of “We’re in a Book,” I just knew that I have to experience these books for myself. And so while my daughter and I were in our weekly pilgrimage to the library, I grabbed all the Elephant and Piggie books we had in our shelves. And boy, were we blown away! I thought I’d just read it by myself – I ended up reading it aloud with my daughter who loved reading Piggie’s parts. There is brilliance and depth in its stark simplicity. It’s perfect for beginning readers and would likewise be enjoyed by older kids or even adults who are young at heart.
Currently Reading…
I’m halfway through The Book of Sand and Shakespeare’s Memory by Jorge Luis Borges. It’s a book that requires one’s undivided attention – the language is luscious, but my eyes do tend to glaze over after awhile – I have a feeling I’d let this one go. I have already finished reading Walter Moers’ The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear and I hope to review it for our next theme. Soon to come. I’m still reading Bradbury’s The October Country.

I am so pleased to see you have fallen head first into Elephant and Piggie’s world. It is an addictive one! My students like to read with a buddy each taking a part. Lots of giggles and huge amounts of expression! Willems has this down to an art!

I’ve read all of your Elephant and Piggie books except Pigs Make Me Sneeze. I will have to check that one out. These books are a favorite at my house with all ages. Thanks for sharing!

The Piggie and Elephant books are my new go-to birth gift, and birthday gift for little ones. It’s a great way to get them started on their own library!

I adore Bradbury. Kathy and I did a buddy chat of Fahrenheit 451 back in June – and I have a wonderful picture book version of Homecoming. What a visionary.

I love Elephant and Piggie books. In fact, my 6th graders read 2 of them aloud today in homeroom. They are great no matter what age you are. 🙂

Love your library books and oh my gosh, Mo Willems? A brilliant author. This summer I read Don’t Let the Pigeon stay up late to a bunch of Pre-K through 2nd graders and they just loved it. Nothing like a bunch of kids yelling NO! to the pigeon to make your day a good one 🙂
