Life of Manila Bay: A Photographic Exhibition in Berlin

For those of you who may be in Berlin right now, I encourage you to have a look at this Photographic Exhibition entitled Life of Manila Bay which opens tomorrow 3rd of May until the 15th of June 2012. I am proud to share that the photographer is a dear friend of mine, Joshua T. Formentera, Jr. He opened his home to me and my travel buddy (Professor Tuting Hernandez) when we visited Germany a year ago. He is one of the few people I know who is simply bursting with so much vitality, exuberance, and fantabulous gaiety – it’s a joy to know him.

Here is a little teaser about Joshua.

What is even more fabulous is that Joshua has agreed to generously share a few of his photos with us here in GatheringBooks as part of our Photo Journal. We are truly honored to showcase a few photographs from his picture series documenting stories told through images. So watch out for that!

Myra is a Teacher Educator and a registered clinical psychologist based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Prior to moving to the Middle East, she lived for eleven years in Singapore serving as a teacher educator. She has edited five books on rediscovering children’s literature in Asia (with a focus on the Philippines, Malaysia, India, China, Japan) as part of the proceedings for the Asian Festival of Children’s Content where she served as the Chair of the Programme Committee for the Asian Children’s Writers and Illustrators Conference from 2011 until 2019. While she is an academic by day, she is a closet poet and a book hunter at heart. When she is not reading or writing about books or planning her next reads, she is hoping desperately to smash that shuttlecock to smithereens because Badminton Is Life (still looking for badminton courts here at UAE - suggestions are most welcome).
