Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Miz B from Should Be Reading. Here are the rules just in case you’re intrigued enough to join.
- Grab your current read/s.
- Open to a random page.
- Share “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page (I deleted the ‘two sentences’ bit since I tend to include more than two sentences, truth be told).
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Since I usually tend to multi-task and read several books at the same time, my sharing today would be quite diverse.
It’s Great to be a Girl by Cindy Lim
“Everyone has special gifts, Little Girl – including boys,” said Mummy.“These special gifts are your strengths, your talents, your special abilities.”Mummy looked over to a pretty picture of a snowman on the wall.“See, you can draw and paint very well, and it’s easy for you to do. That’s a special gift – your special gift.”Little Girl’s face beamed with delight. Then she remembered there was more.“How else am I special, Mummy? Why are girls so special?”Little Girl felt a strange, warm feeling growing inside her.It was hope. It was joy. (unpaged)
I received a copy of this book from the author and it is truly a charming book that would be enjoyed by children – boys and girls alike.
The Ask and the Answer
His voice brightens a little. “The people will welcome this. I offer clarity where before there was only chaos.”
“Is Viola with the women?” I ask. “Is she okay?”
He looks back at me again. “You made a promise, Todd Hewitt,” he says. “Need I remind you once more? Just save her and I’ll do anything you want, I believe were your exact words.”
I lick my lips nervously. “How do I know yer keeping yer end of the bargain?”
“You don’t” he says, his eyes on mine, like he’s peering right past every lie I could tell him. “I want your faith in me, Todd, and faith with proof is no faith at all.” p. 50
Jacob Have I loved by Katherine Paterson
I began to cream my hands each night, sloshing lotion all over them and sleeping in a pair of mother’s worn white cotton gloves – perhaps the pair she was married in. Is that possible? It was stupid, I decided, to resign myself to being another Auntie Braxton. I was young and able, as my exams had proved. Without God, or a man, I could still conquer a small corner of the world – if I wanted to. My hands stubbornly refused to be softened. But I was determined not to give up on them this time. (p. 196)
It is with deliberation that I chose the last two novels to share with you apart from the fact that I am in the thick of reading both of them. It is because of the fact that both are award-winning-books, perfect for our very own Award-Winning-Books Reading Challenge. Do sign up here if you haven’t joined us yet. 🙂
Interesting teaser! My teaser comes from a Patrick McManus book.

Hi Danica, the book covers do mean a great deal, don’t they – regardless of the adage about not judging the book by its cover 🙂
