Teaser Tuesday: A Visit from the Goon Squad

A Visit from the Goon Squad

In 2011 a lot of book bloggers have been raving about this book by Jennifer Egan. I’ve been meaning to purchase it. I did before 2011 ended. However, I’ve only recently started reading it.

A Visit from the Goon Squad: Amazon | Book Depository

“The warrior smiles at Charlie. He’s nineteen only five years older than she is, and has lived away from his village since he was ten. But he’s sung for enough American tourists to recognize that in her world, Charlie is a child. Thirty-five years from now, in 2008, this warrior will be caught in the tribal violence between the Kikuyu and the Luo and will die in a fire…”

So what’s your teaser today?

  2. Interesting book!
Question about the challenge: is being #1 NYT Bestseller considered a recognition and would such books qualify for the challenge?

Also not sure if this post fits in with Teaser Tuesday, but here’s a link anyway 🙂 http://www.inbetweencovers.com/2012/01/binchy-and-dpp-41.html

    • Hi Vera, interesting question. Hmm.. perhaps for now we stick to just books that actually won an award/recognition – both local/international. I have just reviewed Cathy Day’s The Circus in Winter – but didn’t include it despite the fact that it’s been nominated for quite a few awards since it technically didn’t win a medal/honor award.
