Message in a Bottle – Launch of our Bimonthly Special for January and February

Our Theme for January and February 2011

In keeping with our previous GatheringBooks special, we are launching our Message in a Bottle theme for January and February 2011.

Essentially, we would be featuring books that have a letter/postcard theme to it. Fats is eager to review her Nick Bantock books, I am looking forward to featuring Mark Teague’s La Rue picture books (Letters from the Obedience School being one of them) as well as the Beatrice Letters by Lemony Snicket. I think Mary would be featuring Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet. These are just some snippets and snapshots of what we would be sharing with you this January and February.

We are also happy to do a Chinese New Year Special between January 30 – February 5, 2011. Books that have Chinese tales, legends, stories would likewise be reviewed during this week.

If you are a book blogger and you have done some reviews about these themes, do drop us a line and we shall provide a link to your site by the first week of March. Or if there are books you would like to recommend to us, let us know by sending us an email or leaving a comment on this post so we can hunt for those stories.

Happy Reading!

Myra is a Teacher Educator and a registered clinical psychologist based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Prior to moving to the Middle East, she lived for eleven years in Singapore serving as a teacher educator. She has edited five books on rediscovering children’s literature in Asia (with a focus on the Philippines, Malaysia, India, China, Japan) as part of the proceedings for the Asian Festival of Children’s Content where she served as the Chair of the Programme Committee for the Asian Children’s Writers and Illustrators Conference from 2011 until 2019. While she is an academic by day, she is a closet poet and a book hunter at heart. When she is not reading or writing about books or planning her next reads, she is hoping desperately to smash that shuttlecock to smithereens because Badminton Is Life (still looking for badminton courts here at UAE - suggestions are most welcome).
