This is a much-delayed update of the progress that we’ve made so far with the other mini-challenges which coincided beautifully with some of our goals. Let’s go over each one of them, shall we?
I lovelovelove our Pinterest site. It’s very user-friendly and I love the fact that it’s just chock-filled with images, and that we can easily organize our book genres into boards. Creating boards is likewise extremely easy. I’ve also been receiving quite a bit of traffic from our Pinterest site (more than Twitter in fact). The Pinterest mini-challenge (Pinterest to Promote Your Blog) is hosted by Joy from Joy’s Book Blog (@joyweesemoll). Here are a few of the things I managed to do:
- I have created two new boards: (1) The Circus and Carnivale Themed Books and (2) Haunting Tales and Paranormal Twists
- All the titles from these two new boards automatically link to our reviews here in GatheringBooks.
- I have also discovered a cute strategy: before pressing the Pin It Button, I highlighted the title of the book and voila as soon as I pin it, I don’t even have to type the title of the book, it just automatically appears as a description. That was cool.
- I was also able to update our Award-Winning-Books-Reading Challenge board. I’m glad that we’re also able to link to the reviews of our reading challenge participants through Pinterest, in addition to our current databases (here’s the link up for March). Goodreads Mini Challenge
Janicu from Janicu’s Book Blog (@janicu) is hosting the Goodreads Challenge which we joined gladly. Admittedly, we have not made as much progress as I could see from Janicu’s lovely site, but I managed to do several:
- I have updated our profile to link to our website.
- I have updated our GoodReads Reading Goal as you can see here:
Yes, we have read 109 out of our target 365 books (see our latest Reading Calendar for March/April here)! I think that’s not too bad a progress. It took me quite awhile just to do this little bit since most of the books I’ve read last month are award-winning Filipino picture books. Some of the titles are not found in Goodreads, which means I have to manually add them which is quite a tedious task. But I’ve managed to do it nonetheless, so hooray for that.
Shelfari Update
While no one is technically hosting this mini-challenge, this was one of the goals we have set out for ourselves. Our site remains dismal with zero friends. I also know I wouldn’t be able to link my reviews to the books found in our shelves. I am envisioning that our Shelfari would mostly contain our ‘favorites’ and our ‘wishlist’ as well as books we are ‘currently reading’ and ‘planning to read.’
So far, I have managed to update our “currently reading” shelf and “planning to read” shelf. I thought that was pretty okay, too.
If only there was an auto-function of linking blogposts to G+, BookBlogs, and Shelfari, Pinterest, Goodreads, I’d be a happy girl. And boy, it’s not easy to maintain all of them. I just feel relieved that at least WordPress posts are linked to both Facebook and Twitter, it saves us the time of doing updates on those social networking sites.
Gathering Books 
Way to go, Wonder Woman! Although it didn’t seem like it in our Facebook chat, this Bloggiesta fever gets me pumped up! Talk to you in a bit! 🙂

Hi Patricia, it’s alright. It’s actually pretty difficult to maintain so many social networking websites, just isn’t feasible. But Pinterest is fun, you should really check it out. Let me know if you need an invite. 🙂
